How the vocabulary bands are made
This tool uses 1,479 hand-selected Spanish words and phrases across 25 learning bands. Each entry has a concise English meaning and a reviewed grammatical label, allowing every question to use nine answers of the same type.
The selection excludes cognates, near-cognates, proper names, brands, acronyms, and culturally obvious loanwords. That keeps familiar-looking forms from inflating the estimate.
The CEFR labels are approximate vocabulary bands created for this tool, not official CEFR cut scores. A0 is the test’s neutral reset state; formal CEFR materials use Pre-A1. An isolated multiple-choice vocabulary test cannot measure speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, or communication.
These are curated test selections rather than a complete frequency dictionary. The estimated receptive-vocabulary ranges describe the broader vocabulary associated with each result band; they are not the number of entries shown here. See the dataset notes.
