What we measure

We use limited, first-party aggregate analytics to understand whether the website and its learning materials are useful. A visit is included only after the page has been actively visible for more than seven seconds.

The measurements may include the page viewed, approximate country, referral source or campaign tag, active time, audio playback, questionnaire choices and clicks leading to Patreon or another listening platform.

How the analytics work

The public website does not place an analytics identifier in cookies, local storage or session storage. A random identifier exists temporarily in the open page so related actions can be counted within that visit. It is not reused when you return and is not used to build a profile across visits.

Our application analytics do not store your IP address or complete browser user agent. The hosting and security infrastructure necessarily processes technical request information to deliver and protect the website. Country information is reduced to a country code before it reaches our analytics records. Visits from Denmark and Portugal are excluded from the application analytics.

Cookies

Public visitors are not given analytics or advertising cookies. Our hosting and security provider may set a short-lived, strictly necessary security cookie to protect the website from automated abuse. If an administrator signs in to the private dashboard, a separate necessary login cookie keeps that administrator signed in. Neither cookie is used for advertising or public visitor analytics.

Purpose and legal basis

We process these limited measurements for our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the website, understanding which learning materials are useful and measuring whether visitors choose to continue to our external listening pages. We minimize the information collected and do not use it for targeted advertising.

Retention and service providers

Visit-level analytics records are retained for no longer than 13 months and are then deleted.

We use service providers to host and deliver the website and to store its private analytics. They process information on our behalf to provide those services. When you follow a link to Patreon, Audible, Spotify, Apple Books, Kobo or Storytel, that service receives information under its own privacy policy.

Your privacy rights

The public analytics are designed not to identify you. They do not retain your IP address, a persistent visitor identifier or your complete browser user agent. This means we will normally be unable to connect an analytics visit with you or retrieve it as your personal information.

Our hosting and security providers may temporarily process technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. Where data protection law applies, you may ask about personal information connected with you or request its correction or deletion, and you may object to or request limits on its processing. You may also complain to the Danish Data Protection Authority at datatilsynet.dk.
